Where Your Clean Energy Comes From: Local Projects Powering Columbus

Clean Energy Columbus is helping power a cleaner, more sustainable future for our community. By providing 100% clean energy and investing in Ohio-based energy projects, the program supports both environmental progress and local economic growth.

As new renewable projects come online, more of the energy powering Columbus is being generated right here in Ohio.

Expanding Ohio-based Clean Energy

Several major energy projects are helping grow Ohio’s clean energy supply:

The Atlanta Farms Solar Project in Pickaway County is one of the largest in Ohio, generating approximately 180 MW of energy.

The Clinton Solar project in Clinton County adds 39 MW of energy, contributing to Ohio’s growing renewable portfolio and increasing access to clean, locally generated electricity.

In addition to solar, projects like the Emerson Creek Wind Farm (83 MW) in Huron and Erie Counties further strengthen the program’s clean energy mix, along with several additional projects across the state.

These investments by Clean Energy Columbus support a local, reliable, resilient energy future for Columbus.

Curious About Rooftop Solar?

We’re partnering with Solar United Neighbors (SUN) to bring the Columbus Area Solar Co-op to Central Ohio.

A solar co-op makes going solar easy and affordable. You’ll benefit from a group discount and expert guidance from a trusted nonprofit, and Columbus residents may be eligible for a City-funded rebate covering up to 20% of installation costs (up to $5000). The program is open to homeowners, nonprofits, and small businesses in Franklin, Delaware, Licking, Pickaway, Fairfield, Madison, and Union Counties.

Summer Energy Efficiency Tips

Residents can play an important role by reducing energy use at home.

Simple, seasonal adjustments can help lower bills and ease demand on the grid:

  • Change air filters and schedule an A/C tune-up to improve efficiency
  • Seal gaps around windows and doors to keep cool air inside
  • Use LED lighting and energy-efficient appliances to reduce electricity use

Taking these steps helps your household save energy and also supports the broader impact of Clean Energy Columbus by reducing overall demand and maximizing the benefits of energy efficiency.

Powering a More Sustainable Future

Clean Energy Columbus continues to invest in local projects that deliver clean energy, create jobs, and strengthen Ohio’s energy infrastructure.

Together, these investments, along with the choices residents make every day, are helping build a more sustainable Columbus for years to come.
