Five Years of Impact
This year, Clean Energy Columbus (CEC) proudly celebrated its fifth anniversary, and we are deeply honored to have played a role in helping Columbus move closer to its sustainability goals. Today, more than 200,000 residents and businesses are participating in the program, choosing clean energy to power their lives. Since our launch, CEC has delivered over $59 million in savings to the community and achieved emissions reductions equivalent to removing 1.4 million cars from the road.
These accomplishments reflect the strength of our partnership with the City and the trust residents have placed in us. We are proud to serve as Columbus’ clean energy partner and remain committed to providing 100% renewable energy options for many years to come.
2025 Highlights
2025 was a milestone for Clean Energy Columbus. We invested more than $800,000 in clean energy workforce training programs, helping over 500 Ohioans secure jobs building projects that deliver in-state renewable energy. In addition, we reinvested $500,000 of our community grant into Columbus neighborhoods to support a solar co-op and launch a one-of-a-kind energy efficiency kit pilot program for more than 200 homes across the City.
Another major achievement was the Clinton Solar Farm coming online in October. This solar farm, located in Clinton County, is now producing 39 megawatts of power directly into the electric grid, increasing reliability and delivering renewable energy to the program.
Celebrating EMPOWERED! Cohort 11
Another highlight of the year was the graduation of EMPOWERED! Cohort 11, held on December 11th at Impact Community Action. This program equips individuals with the skills and knowledge to thrive in the clean energy workforce. We proudly celebrated 20 graduates who completed the program and are ready to contribute to building a sustainable future. The event featured Kristen Atha, Director of Columbus Water and Power, as the guest speaker, inspiring graduates and attendees with her vision for a cleaner, more resilient Columbus.
